Hello, my name is Lily Lowndes.
I am a multimedia journalist at WTVG-TV/ 13abc in Toledo, Ohio. Every night, I report hard news stories for our 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts. I work hard to break stories that are important to our viewers. I have interviewed the family of former missing woman Dee Warner throughout major developments in the case, including her body being found three years after her disappearance. I uncovered a school district firing a basketball coach for an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, investigated what our local police department gets out of allowing live reality television crews to follow officers in the field, and obtained video no other station had of a police chase that almost ended with a family being hit by the suspect while playing in their front yard.
My favorite stories are the ones that shine light on positive moments in our community. Whether it be tracking down the horsemen that ride the busy streets of Toledo on horseback, being there when decades of marching band alumni take the field at halftime to surprise a retiring band director, or highlighting the ongoing mission of Ohio's oldest practicing dentist, I love creating packages that will make our viewers smile.
I graduated from DePaul University with a degree in journalism, and public relations & advertising. While I now call Toledo home, I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, which means I have a special affinity for dairy, cows and eco-friendly practices.
I am a naturally curious person who often finds herself falling down rabbit holes of research. My favorite subjects, however, are people. I love conducting sit-down interviews and putting together news packages that celebrate people's passions and contributions to the world.
